Positive Childbirth
(Sometimes called Painless Childbirth but as the word 'pain' is subjective I prefer to use 'positive').
How does it work?
When the mind is concentrated and prepared it can achieve outstanding results including relaxation and relief of pain. In 1850 Dr James Esdaile was able to operate without anaesthetics, using only hypnosis, and yet modern medicine still prefers to rely on chemical anaesthesia!
Once you have been taught the technique of Self-Hypnosis you will be able to influence your unconscious mind (the most powerful part) to make sure that discomfort is minimal and you are in control.
Hypnosis: -
Reduces fear, tension and discomfort.
Decreases shock & speeds recovery.
Reduces the need for chemical anaesthesia.
Minimises exhaustion.
Shortens the first stage of delivery.
Allows relaxation before, during and after childbirth.
Teaches skills that are useful throughout life.
The Programme
Following the initial consultation
- Session 1 usually takes place around week 20 of your pregnancy. You are introduced to hypnosis and relaxation and how they help in childbirth.
- Session 2 takes place 4 weeks later later. Self-hypnosis is introduced and taught.
- Session 3 (around week 30 of your pregnancy) deals with anaesthesia.
- Session 4 (2 weeks later) consolidates all the techniques previously taught and addresses any specific points that may remain.
(Your partner or a friend is welcome to accompany you at all sessions).
Hypnosis is absolutely safe. You will be able to follow all the instructions that midwives or doctors may need to give and relaxation will be so much easier.
